Risk Disclosure

Last updated

This disclosure describes the main risks of using Sonde and of trading prediction markets. It forms part of the Terms of Service; read it with the No-Advice Notice.

In plain terms

Trading prediction markets is high-risk and you can lose your entire stake. Read these risks before activating any real-active flow.

You can lose money

Trading prediction markets is speculative and high-risk. You can lose some or all of your stake. Only commit funds you can afford to lose.

Prediction-market risk

Prediction-market positions can settle to zero on an event outcome. These markets and their regulatory treatment are evolving and uncertain, which adds risk beyond ordinary price movement.

Execution and slippage risk

Real fills can differ from a simulation. Prices move, orders may fill partially or not at all, and slippage can make a real trade worse than the paper run that modeled it.

Liquidity and depth risk

Thin books, wide spreads, and shallow depth can make it hard to enter or exit at the price you expect, or at all.

Data and source-ambiguity risk

Sonde relies on third-party and observed market data that may be stale, incomplete, or wrong. Sonde blocks rather than trade on stale books, but it cannot guarantee the accuracy of external data.

Automation risk

Automated flows act on the bounds you set. Software defects, outages, or connectivity problems can cause missed, delayed, or unintended actions. You should monitor your flows; a kill switch is available to stop activity.

Real-active risk

Real-active flows trade real money. Paper trading is recommended first but not required. Nothing trades until you explicitly activate a bounded real-active flow with limits you set, and Sonde never silently upgrades a flow to real money.

Jurisdiction and blocked-trade risk

Trade submission, real preview, and real-active activation are blocked for the United States and other restricted or sanctioned jurisdictions [exact country list — counsel to confirm]. These checks fail closed using IP geolocation, your attestation, and a sanctions screen. If you are blocked, trading actions will not run; non-trading surfaces may remain available.

No advice, no custody, no counterparty

Sonde does not give financial advice (see the No-Advice Notice), does not custody your funds, and is not a counterparty to your trades. Your trades are between you and the market or venue you use.
